CURRICULUM MEETING PLANNED
In an effort to keep you informed about your child's education we are hosting Curriculum Information meetings on September 18. This is an opportunity for parents to visit with their child's teacher about the curriculum and procedures. It is not an opportunity to have a conference with the teacher but you will find out details about assignments and expectations for the grade level.
Following is a schedule of each grade level's meeting. Two sessions are being offered so you can attend more than one grade level if needed.
Session One: 3:45 – 4:30PM
Session Two: 4:45 – 5:30PM
We look forward to seeing you on September 18.
ONE CALL NOW 2014-15
The Logan Elm Schools have contracted again with One Call Now as a voice message provider for the 2014-15 school year. This is an effective way to keep parents informed about school closures or delays, important events, and automated student attendance calls.
One Call Now also has the capability to send SMS text messages. If you would like to opt-in for this service, please send a text message with the word "Alert" to 22300. Your cell phone number must be entered in One Call Now in order to use this service. To add, check and/or update your contact numbers click on the "One Call Now" box to the left.
If you have any questions, please contact the school.
STAY CONNECTED WITH REMIND AND TWITTER
Remind is a safe, simple and free way for Pickaway Elementary to connect instantly with parents about events happening at school. Remind is a free service that lets the school send one-way messages via SMS, push notifications or email to everyone registered. There is no exchange of personal phone numbers. Remind messages are not sent from personal cell phone numbers. Parents who sign up to receive messages from the school will never gain access to any personal cell phone numbers, nor will the school ever have access to parent’s cell phone numbers.
Remind is completely free to use. Standard text messaging rates apply to those receiving messages, based off each individuals messaging plan and cell phone carrier, but there are no added costs. In other words, a Remind message is exactly the same as getting a text message from friends or relatives.

KINDERGARTEN STAGGERED START
For the first time, Logan Elm will use a "staggered start" process to begin school for our kindergarten students. The staggered start will allow us to help students transition smoothly to the kindergarten classroom. On your child's staggered start day, he/she will be with a small number of students so that the teacher can provide close attention to the beginning needs associated with starting school. The teacher will begin the required state assessments, will introduce daily routines and procedures to small groups, and will help your child become familiar with his/her new surroundings. School transportation will not be provided for kindergarten students on August 19, 20, and 21. Staggered start hours for Kindergarten students on their assigned day will be 10AM - 2:30PM.
After these first 3 staggered start days, all kindergarten students will attend as a whole class on Friday, August 22, and will be transported by the school bus.
If you have questions about this process, please call Pickaway Elementary at 474-3877.
