COSI ON WHEELS VISITS PICKAWAY
COSI on Wheels visited Pickaway Elementary in December to present their weather education program entitled "Current Conditions." The students and staff enjoyed a day of learning about meteorology and the causes of our various weather systems. After a school-wide assembly that featured students interacting as molecules and explored how lightning is created, each grade level was able to visit the gymnasium for hands-on activities. Some of the students' favorite stations included using a bicycle pump to learn about air pressure and being able to create their own tornado. Each station, which was run by PTO volunteers, educated the students on a different aspect of meteorology from cloud formation to the water cycle to weather tools. Students had fun learning and left the day as real weather whiz kids. This hands-on, engaging program was arranged by Pickaway PTO and sponsored by a grant from PPG Industries.
